ABOUT THE UTHSC-SAN ANTONIO SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School has been widely recognized as one of the top dental schools in the world. At present, it is the only dental school with which McMurry University has an early admission agreement. Students who are not accepted in the early admission program can still apply to San Antonio Dental School through the normal application process. The other dental schools in Texas are The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Dental Branch and Baylor College of Dentistry (associated with Texas A&M University System). Students would usually apply for these programs between their junior and senior years. The entrance requirements are similar, but not exactly the same. Houston Dental Branch requires three semester hours of biochemistry. Baylor College of Dentistry requires eight hours of biology, but recommends 16-20. Houston and San Antonio both require 14 hours of biology which must include one year of formal lab work. They all require eight hours of general or inorganic chemistry, eight hours of organic chemistry, and eight hours of physics (these courses are required to be the same courses that science majors take). 3 + 4 Dual Degree and Dental Early Admission Program After the successful completion of the following courses and fulfilling the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School contractual conditions on file with McMurry's Vice President for Academic Affairs, the student will receive acceptance to the UTHSCSA Dental School.
