Stirling Engine (2005 to Present)
Started this project in 2005 while at the University of Dallas. Since then it has become an annual struggle to make a working model. Stage 1 is to make a working model out of cans from the trash and JB Weld. Stage 2 is to make a working model in the machine shop. Stage 3 is to produce an 8 cylinder version. Currently I also have plans for a rotary design. Plans curtsey of Dr. Dan Bruton at SFASU.
Wind Tunnel Project (Summer 2009)
Summer 2009 promises to be a good time for building something special at McMurry, our very own wind tunnel. No place better than one of the windiest places in the US and the heart of the Wind-Energy Corridor. Plans thus far are for a 0.5 meter test section with a length some where between 4 and 6 meters. Calculations thus far are leaning towards the larger. Stage 1 is to build the experimental platform. Stage 2 is to place and inferometer on it. Stage 3 is to observe vibration in various objects due to wind. Many different experiments can come from this, so we are excited to see it come alive.
