Psi Chi Convention
Dr. Charles Hennig and five McMurry students (Dalila Lara, Michael McCorkle, Tinnia
Bass, Sharon Norman, and Melanie Koscienski) attended the 50th Anniversary Convention
of the Southwestern Psychological Association in San Antonio, TX, on April 8-10,
2004. It was also the 75th Anniversary of the formation of Psi Chi, the National
Honor Society in Psychology. Many fine talks, papers, and posters were given.
Dalila Lara presented a paper based on her Honor's research in the Psi Chi paper
competition titled "Effects of Persuasive Narratives on Peer Pressure Influences."
Dr. Charles Hennig attended a Psi Chi luncheon for chapter faculty sponsors during
this convention.
Next year, the Southwestern Psychological Association's meeting will be in
Memphis, TN. Since that location is a little too far to drive, the Psychology
Department will probably not try to have students attend that meeting. However,
the following year, the Southwestern Psychological Association will meet in
Austin, TX. The department plans to have a contingent of students attending
it. Plan your research so that you might give a presentation at that convention
and start raising funds for expenses in anticipation of that trip.
