Departamental Overview...
McMurry University has approximately 30 Theatre majors and minors.
With three full-time instructors, these students receive an extraordinary
amount of attention, encouragement, and instruction both in the
classroom and on stage. Numerous opportunities exist for students
to perform, direct, design, build, or sew. Students participate in the audition process on a regular basis, and easily have the opportunity to learn box office procedures, management techniques, and stage management
responsibilities. Students work on a variety of crews, and all are expected
to help with each production in some way. The department is large
enough to allow healthy competition between the actors but small enough
to foster a friendly, safe creative, and trusting environment.
