Bertolt Brecht was born in
Augsburg, Germany in 1889 and died in Berlin in 1956. Brecht is best known
for his plays including such classics as The Threepenny Opera,
Galileo, and Mother Courage and Her Children. In Galileo
Brecht explores probably the most famous conflict between the search for
truth in science and religious authority. You may wish to peruse the
directors notes. from McMurry's production (available on videotape at the AEC).
More on Brecht may be found in
Brecht from the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta Canada.
There is a great deal of available material on Galileo, his work, and his
time. The following is a selection of these materials.
