Chandra Landry
Volleyball Coach
Chandra Landry begins her second season as the head
coach of the Lady Choctaw volleyball team. Landry is very
familiar with the game as she was a four-year starter for the
Lady Choctaw program. While playing for Mississippi College,
Landry was named Most Valuable Player and received the Leadership
Award during her senior season.
Chandra has more than 13 years of combined experience as a player and coach. During her spare time, Landry is heavily involved with the Clinton YMCA. She plays for a club team in Clinton and she coaches the Jackson Junior Olympic Volleyball Club team. During her first season as coach, Landry had one player to make the All-Conference Honorable Mention team and the Academic All-Conference team.
Landry is a 1996 graduate of Mississippi College with a BSBA degree and she is currently working on her master's degree in education. Landry is a native of Pierre Part, La. (top of page)
Despite an 0-27 year in 1997, coach Chandra Landry looks forward to getting started with the 1998 year.
Four key players will return to help turn the Lady Choctaw volleyball program around. Carly Rivelli, a junior middle blocker will return with experience and the leadership to help rebuild the volleyball program. She has the ability to make everyone around her play better. Melissa McCain, a sophomore setter will be counted on to make plays for the Lady Chocs. Jennifer Hawks, a sophomore outside hitter and Amy Romero, a sophomore middle blocker will return with experience.
Coach Landry recruited four new players that will need to come in and learn the system and play right away. Exciting things are happening for the Lady Choctaw volleyball team and it is coming at a time when the conference begins to sponsor a volleyball championship. (top of page)
