Tournament to be held in Belton
Mary Hardin-Baylor and McMurry tied for the West Division Championship with 10-2 conference records. The Crusaders took both matches from the Indians and have earned the right to host this weekend's ASC Volleyball Championship Tournament. McMurry will play Austin College (East No. 1) Friday at 5 p.m., followed by Mary Hardin-Baylor against LeTourneau (East No. 2) at 7 p.m. The winners will advance to Saturday's championship match schedule for 10 a.m.
Young and Restless - Austin College's Lindsey Young averaged 3.9 kills per game and hit .391 (30 kills on 64 attempts with only five errors in eight games played). The 19-kill performance is her third highest total of the season. In two matches played this week, Young also had one service ace, 22 digs and three block assists.
Griffin Leads McMurry - Sabrina Griffin, a 5-9 junior from Killeen, Texas, helped the Indians clinch a tie of the West Division Championship by going 2-0 in conference play last week. Griffin made 40 kills on 100 attempts in wins over Howard Payne and Sul Ross State, and a five-game loss to Schreiner.
Orsag Opens Fire - Mary Hardin-Baylor's Marisa Orsag has been dominant all season and hopes to lead the Crusaders to their first ASC Volleyball Championship when the ASC Volleyball Tournament comes to Belton. The senior middle blocker from Magnolia, Texas, hit .357 in a straight-game win over Sul Ross State. She recorded seven kills and two errors in 14 attempts.
