East Division Hitter of the Week
Austin College's Alexander selected East Division Setter of the
Week
RICHARDSON, Texas -- LeTourneau's Rhonda Richardson has been the most consistent player on the team this season. In three matches last week, the senior from Houston, Texas, had 40 kills, 10 aces, 36 digs, three solo blocks and four block assists to be named ASC Volleyball East Division Hitter of the Week for the week of November 1. Richardson's play helped the Yellow Jackets advance to this weekend's ASC Post-Season Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the East.
Michelle Alexander, sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, helped Austin College wrap up its most successful regular season in history, as the Kangaroos won their final three matches of the regular season to finish with an all-time program best 21 wins (21-9 overall). Alexander has been named ASC Volleyball Setter of the Week. The team now moves on to the ASC tournament this weekend. In the two matches Alexander played this week, she amassed 91 assists in eight games (11.4 assists/game). She also recorded 5 kills on 13 attempts without an error (a .385 hitting percentage. On the season, Alexander is averaging 10.8 assists per game.

McMurry's Smith Sets Indians to Season Success
Howard Payne's Tanya Laird, a senior outside hitter from Haslet, Texas, has been named ASC Volleyball West Division Hitter of the Week. She finished her last season with the Yellow Jackets on a high note by leading the team in kills their last two matches. Laird used 12 kills on 28 attempts to pace Howard Payne to victory against Hardin-Simmons. More impressively, Laird led the team with 19 digs. Against East Texas Baptist, Laird finished with 14 kills, 17 digs and service aces.
Hollie Smith has been named ASC Volleyball West Division Setter of the Week after leading the McMurry team to a tied for the West Division Championship. The Springtown, Texas, native recorded 93 assists for the week and had eight kills, 26 digs and four blocks. Smith also added five service aces.
