HARTFORD - Jeff Montgomery scored his third game-winner of the season in the 57th minute Tuesday night to break a 1-1 tie as Hartford edged Jersey City 2-1 at the Hartford Ice Hanger. Gordon Bombay scored Hartford's first goal in the second period and Hartford overcame Jersey City's early 1-0 lead.

Jersey City dominated the shot count 36-21 but it was Hartford's goals that reached the net and Hartford goalie Jimmy Munson picked up his 10th win of the season while Hartford moved to 11-4-2 on the year and remained in first place.
