Scholarship Opportunities
McMurry Scholarships, Grants and Awards
Many grants and scholarships are McMurry tuition specific. The Business Office counts grants/scholarships as expected aid. Keep in mind that grants/scholarships will be credited to student accounts after the 8th class day each semester. This procedure allows time to audit for actual hours enrolled while minimizing future adjustments that result from class schedule changes.
If you are the recipient of an McMurry Academic Scholarship or award, you are expected to remain enrolled as a full-time student for each of the semesters in which these scholarships are awarded. Renewal of these scholarships each academic year is contingent upon your maintaining the required McMurry GPA as outlined below. Academic Scholarships are awarded for a total of eight semeseters of undergraduate study. Eligibility for the Phi Theta Kappa and McMurry Transfer Scholarships/Awards are limited to the number of semesters remaining after the student’s prior attendance is subtracted from eight semesters.

Departmental Scholarship Awards
Departmental scholarship awards are made annually by the individual academic departments. Please contact your department for the most current procedures to apply for a departmental scholarship. Maintenance requirements are determined by department.
McMurry Specific Scholarships.
Students receiving McMurry institutional scholarships, awards or grants may only use these funds for tuition costs resulting from courses taken at McMurry. Exceptions to this policy are students enrolled from McMurry in the Abilene Intercollegiate School of Nursing.
Students enrolled at Hardin-Simmons or Abilene Christian University under our Intercollegiate Enrollment program assume the total cost of tuition charges at that respective university, with institutional financial aid prorated for courses enrolled at McMurry if student falls below full-time.
Awards From Outside Sources
If you are the recipient of any type of award from a source other than McMurry University (foundation, school, church, Veterans Benefits., etc.) you must report it to this office as soon a possible so that arrangements may be made to issue the appropriate credit. Use the form on page 12 of this booklet. You may duplicate this form if you receive more than one private scholarship from outside sources. An adjustment in your award package may have to be made according to your documented need and the guidelines of the programs.
Please inform the person or organization responsible for payment that scholarship checks should be made payable to McMurry University and forwarded to the Financial Aid Office, Box 908, Abilene, TX 79697 for handling.
