Through Stocks and Securities
Long-term, appreciated stocks and securities are almost always an excellent way to provide financial support. Stocks or other investments that you have held for more than one year can become a substantial gift made at a low cost to you. Giving stocks and bonds that have increased in value (and that you have owned for more than one year) provides even greater tax benefits than giving cash; you can avoid the capital gains tax by directly transferring stock to McMurry University.
