Associate Director of Alumni
Relations
It would be difficult to find a member of the
McMurry family that wears her maroon and white with more pride than
Erin Stevens. As a student, she served as president of her social
club, Student Ambassador Board and McMurry Student Government,
while participating in many other campus activities. She is a
regular at McMurry Basketball games and even has a dog named Mic,
with another on the way that she says she will name Murry. But most
importantly, Erin truly believes in the mission of McMurry and
believes she wouldn’t be who she is today without it.
At her home in Amarillo, Texas, Erin attended
church with many alumni and board of trustees members. “Growing up,
I always seemed to hear about this place called McMurry. When I
finally figured out it was a school, I thought maybe I should check
it out. Clifford Trotter in particular was encouraging me to
attend, so I came to visit and just felt like I should be here,”
said Erin. She feels that decision was one that changed her life.
“McMurry took someone like me—an average kid in high school—and
turned me into a leader. It gave me a future and life skills that
will be with me forever. It is a place that will be forever written
on my heart. I am McMurry!”
Now, her McMurry story continues as she serves
in the Office of Alumni Relations as Associate Alumni Director. “My
job is very rewarding because I am able to experience the best of
two worlds. As sponsor of Student Ambassador Board, I am still able
to connect with students, and as an alumni director, I interact
with alumni who have made McMurry into the wonderful school that it
is today!” She also enjoys the fundraising aspect of her job. “It
is a constant reminder that, when people give, it helps a student
receive a solid education like I did.”
