Phi Alpha Theta

McMurry’s Sigma Beta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta is part of a nationally-organized history honary society with chapters on over 800 college campuses across the United States.  Membership is based on junior or senior standing, rank in the upper 35% of one’s class, an overall GPA of 3.0 or better, and at least 12 semester hours of history credit with an average GPA of 3.1 or better.  Chapter activities have included field trips, presentation of papers at Phi Alpha Theta conferences, participation in meetings of the West Texas Historical Association, and general good fellowship with other historically-minded students and teachers.
