The Structure and Requirements of the
Honors Program
In addition to earning honors credit for
Freshman Seminar, students will also complete twelve additional
hours of honors work before the senior year and write a senior
thesis. In order to continue in the program and retain an honors
scholarship, students must maintain a 3.25 GPA for their honors
work and a 3.5 GPA for all McMurry course work. The program
sponsors a variety of extracurricular activities for honors
students, including off-campus field trips, opportunities to meet
with visiting lecturers, and informal discussions on topics of
interest. The program also provides funding for honors students to
attend meetings of academic societies.
Amy Bell completed her honors thesis in Mathematics in 2005. While
at McMurry, she was a member of the Cross-Country
team.
