Studio at McMurry University
Mark Wilcox joined the music faculty at McMurry University in 2005. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and a DMA from the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Wilcox has performed with notable artists and groups including Count Basie, Doc Severinsen, Aretha Franklin, Mannheim Steamroller, Jerry Lewis, Diane Shuur, The Four Freshman, and Manhattan Transfer, and Mannheim Steamroller. In addition, he has played with the Dayton, Springfield, Oklahoma City, Abilene, and San Angelo Orchestras.
Mark teaches trumpet, music theory, brass methods, and directs the jazz band. He is a founding member of MCMJ, a local jazz quartet that hosts monthly jam sessions. In addition, Dr. Wilcox performs with the West Texas Jazz Orchestra and the West Texas Trumpet Works.
Trumpet students at McMurry University have the opportunity for a diverse performance experience that will prepare them to play or teach in any genre.
