Philip Lee Craik did his undergraduate work at Hardin Simmons University where he majored in Musical Theory and Composition before branching out for a second major in Theatre. Upon graduation in 1975 he served as Assistant Director for the Millbrook Summer Playhouse in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, and then went to London, England on a Rotary International Graduate Fellowship to study acting at the Webber Douglas Academy for Dramatic Art.
Upon his return to the United States, he enrolled in the graduate program at Louisiana State University. Upon finishing his coursework for the Ph.D. in 1981, he was employed by Cisco Junior College for 4 years. Since 1985 he has been employed as a theatre director by McMurry and has directed 77 productions (including 32 musicals) and designed another 25. He has developed 4 different children's theatre productions for Young Audiences of Abilene and toured them to elementary schools in Abilene and the outlying area for the past 14 years. He served as Chair of the McMurry Theatre Dept. from 2003 to 2006 and was voted the Outstanding Faculty Member of the 2006-2007 school year.
