Preceptors and Mentors
Opportunities abound for students who complete the Servant Leadership course.
Students can serve as mentors, a group of 80-85 students who have completed the program, but wish to stay involved and assist when needed for projects and activities.
From there, students can become preceptors, 9-10 juniors or seniors who have been mentors and have the leadership skills necessary to lead their own group in a 30-hour community project.
Students who complete the class are also eligible to seek a co-curricular transcript. Throughout the year, modules on a variety of topics, including time management, conflict resolution and persuasion, are offered.
After completing 27 module hours, a semester-long internship and an exit seminar, students are certified by the Servant Leadership Center. Such certification can be beneficial in future employment opportunities.
These students are also eligible to go to leadership conferences in such places as the University of Houston at Clearlake, Texas Women's University, Baylor University, and many others. These conferences count toward the 27 hours of modules for certification and are FUN!
