Regional Conference of Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society, sponsors national and regional conferences where history students can share their ongoing work with each other. Four McMurry students attended the conference hosted on January 26, 2008 by West Texas A&M University, presenting papers originally written for the McMurry historiography class required of all majors. McMurry professors Dr. Don Frazier and Dr. Robert Pace also attended the conference to serve as session chairs and judges. The students and their presentation titles were:

Krista Waters, “‘With All Deliberate Speed’? Brown v. Board of Education on Race Relations in Abilene, Texas”

Krista Waters’ paper was judged to be the best in her session, which included papers from graduate students as well as undergrads.
