You’ve reached the School of Social Sciences and Religion at McMurry University. Our academic concentration is dedicated to the deepening of our understanding of human society. In the courses we teach, we rigorously examine human beliefs, practices, customs, rituals, and moral systems. We strive to bring our subject matter to life, whether it’s the American judicial system or cowboys on the Great Plains or the patriarchs of the Old Testament. We also offer special opportunities outside the classroom, from Model United Nations to the Texas Frontier Heritage and Cultural Center. Our goal is to lead our students to discover what it means to be a thinking and ethical human being living among other human beings.
Social science and religion courses provide students in other disciplines with general knowledge of the world which they can use in their own specializations. For majors, our areas of study open doors to law school, teaching, counseling, seminary, and similar professional tracks.
