What is the AEC?
The Academic Enrichment Center (AEC), located in the Campus Center, is an integral part of the academic area of McMurry University. The AEC serves McMurry University by providing academic support and instructional resources for students, staff, and faculty in a comprehensive learning environment.
Is the AEC for me?
If you need a learner friendly environment in which to study, the AEC is the place. If you need access to software and computers to complete assignments or to supplement instruction, the AEC has the resources you need. If you are a McMurry student who is experiencing frustration in a particular subject, or you just want to improve your performance in an area of study, the AEC's services will benefit you. The AEC is available for any student who is willing to put forth the time and effort to improve academically.
What does the AEC offer?
AEC services include academic counseling, tutoring, a complete computer lab, audiovisual materials, study skills training, and a computer based testing center (CLEP) .

Whether you visit once or throughout the semester, the Director of Academic Enrichment is qualified to provide objective guidance in academic matters.

Tutoring
The AEC offers a wide range of free tutorial services. The staff works closely with instructors and has access to current textbooks. The Director of Academic Enrichment, the Writing Skills Coordinator, and the Math Skills Coordinator are highly trained in specific areas of study. Peer tutors are qualified students who have been recommended by at least two professors and trained by the coordinators to be sensitive to student needs. Computer tutorials are also available for several McMurry courses. In order to meet the needs of as many students as possible, the AEC offers tutoring in the following subjects:

Computer Lab
The AEC contains a computer lab with 19 IBM-compatible computers, se, one scanner, a laser black & white printer, and a laser color printer. Extensive software is available, including the following:
•Microsoft Office XP
•Word
•Excel
•PowerPoint
•Publisher
•Access
•Photo Shop
•Software for courses in biology, business, chemistry, computer science, English, Spanish, history, mathematics, political science, and sociology.
All the machines in this lab have internet access. Internet Explorer is the browser software used for students to search the internet. Students also have access to their email in this lab.
