Security Officer

Position Title: Security Officer

Job Type: Part-Time- no benefits

Department: Campus Security

Supervisor: Director of Campus Security

Major/Essential Duties of the Job:

•	Patrol University premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
•	Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
•	Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
•	Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or actions needing police
•	Circulate among visitors, students, or employees to preserve order and protect property.
•	Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed.
•	Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
•	Escort individuals to specified locations or to provide personal protection.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience: High School diploma. Some previous experience and knowledge of Public Safety and Security, Customer and Personal Service, and Federal, State, & Local laws. Must be familiar with computers and able use two way radios for communication across campus. Must be able to work part time evenings, nights, and weekends.

Preferred Education/Experience: High school diploma and some college preferred with two (2) years previous security officer experience in a university setting.
