Position Title: System Administrator

Major/Essential Duties of the Job:
This position is responsible for duties that fall within the Networking Department, IT Help Desk and the M.O.V.E. office, which houses the McMurry Tablet Program. Duties assigned, but not limited to, are as follows:

Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems
|

|
Configuring tablets for imaging process for the M.O.V.E. (Mobile Online Visionary Education) Program.
|
| |
•
|
Configuring Norton Ghost or any other hard drive imaging solution and Sysprep image for duplication.
|
| |
•
|
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
|
| |
•
|
Assist the Director of Customer Service in managing the university Help Desk.
|
| |
•
|
Assist in the development of and revision of policies and procedures relevant for the University.
|
| |
•
|
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
|
| |
•
|
Assist the Director of Customer Service with server installs/maintenance in MS Hyper-V environment.
|
| |
•
|
Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
|
| |
•
|
Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software.
|
| |
•
|
Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
|
| |
•
|
Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
|
| |
•
|
Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
|
| |
•
|
Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
|
Required Education/Experience:
| |
|
Associates degree with at least three years of related work experience.
|
| |
|
Basic network functions which includes installation/configuration maintenance of Microsoft servers to a Windows domain.
|
| |
|
Maintenance of servers, operating systems, hardware and application software within the Hyper V server system.
|
| |
|
Working knowledge with Microsoft Active Directory.
|
| |
|
Must be able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Must be able to work some nights and weekends as needed.
|
Preferred Education/Experience:

|
Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of related work experience
|
| |
|
Ability to work in Microsoft’s Hyper V environment.
|
| |
|
Familiar with Moodle, open source course management software would be helpful.
|
