Major/Essential Duties of the Job:
THEATRE GENERALIST: The School of Arts & Letters invites an energetic, innovative and collaborative Assistant Professor to join a progressive faculty of three for a tenure-track position in Theatre starting August, 2014, pending board approval.
Teach undergraduate courses from the following areas: Intro to Theatre; Stagecraft; Lighting Design; Digital Video Capture and Editing; Acting for Non-Majors; Theatre/Arts Management; AutoCad; Sound Design; Production; Stage Make-up; and other areas of instructional interest. Teaching load is 3/3. Opportunities are available to direct at least one production during the academic year. Ideal candidate will also assist in student recruitment activities.
Qualifications: A terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) in Theatre and prior college-level teaching experience or professional equivalent. Previous experience would include a broad based knowledge necessary to function in more than one area of theatre production. Specific skills that would be beneficial include, but are not limited to, digital video capture and editing, sound design, light design, AutoCAD, technical direction, directing, and theatre/box office management. The ability to teach in the graphic design area is also a plus. The successful candidate will support the mission, vision and core values of the University.
