Meeting World Leaders... Model UN students at McMurry have met such well-known world leaders as: Lady Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister; S.E. Eduardo Somoza, Ambassador of Nicaragua to the UN; H.E. Stuart Beck, Ambassador of Palau to the UN; Mark Lagon, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs; Mr. Mohamed El-Farnawany, Egyptian Counsellor to the UN and spokesperson for the G-77; and many more!

Being World Leaders... Model UN graduates find themselves serving in leadership positions in their professions and in their communities too. One recent graduate is currently working as an image analyst for the National Geospatial Agency. She received this position after impressing a future colleague at a UN workshop, who offered her an impromptu interview on the spot! Another recent graduate now serves on the staff of the National Model UN - the largest Model UN conference in the world.

Model UN students at McMurry also serve in many leadership positions across campus, such as: student government president, justices, and senators; yearbook and newspaper editors; social club officers; Servant Leadership preceptors; and student representatives to the McMurry University Board of Trustees. Model UN students also are star athletes. Football, soccer, volleyball and track athletes have participated in Model UN. At the 2006 National Model UN, three of McMurry's star football players represented Austria in New York.

But most importantly, Model UN truly embraces McMurry's Vision: "Cultivating Leadership, Excellence and Virtue...Every Student Every Day." Model UN students learn how to be leaders on campus and in their communities, they learn excellence in subject matter, and they learn virtue through problem solving in a cooperative environment.
