Academic Advising:
If you have academic concerns of any nature, it is usually best to consult your academic advisor first. Many students are reluctant to contact their advisors for fear of "bothering them". The fact is, advisors are there to help and want to be consulted. Oftentimes, they can provide a wealth of information. If an advisor does not know the answer, he/she usually knows a helpful referral. It is certainly in your best interest as a student to get to know your advisor by visiting on a regular basis. Don't be shy!!
Freshman Advisors:
Each entering freshman is assigned to an academic advisor and enrolled in McMurry 101, a freshman seminar course. The advisor, a faculty or professional staff member, leads the freshman seminar class which consists of 15-20 freshmen. McMurry 101, which meets weekly throughout the fall semester, is designed to orient freshmen to the resources available at McMurry University and to college life in general. This faculty or staff member remains a student's advisor until spring pre-registration or a major is declared.
Please Note:
If you need to change your advisor, major or minor, please contact the Department of Academic Advising at 793-3813. |
