Fifth Grade Students from Bowie Elementary Honor McMurry Professor Mary Buzan
Fifth Grade students from Bowie Elementary School made a visit to the McMurry University campus to honor Dr. Mary Buzan on Thursday, March 27. Bowie is a Professional Development School site for the McMurry School of Education.
Dr. Buzan has been teaching linguistics to the fifth grade classes of Mrs. Jerri Roy, Mr. Randy Overall, and Mr. Paul Brown. According to Mr. Brown, “The students just love her!” They have had a wonderful semester and came up with the idea to honor her with a gift certificate. The students started early in March to collect money for the project. On March 27, they surprised her with a visit to the campus. Mrs. Pam Paddock of Bowie accompanied the group.
McMurry University plans to have a fifth grade classroom on campus in the fall of 2008. Dr. Buzan has indicated that she plans to continue with the classes in linguistics when the new fifth graders arrive in the fall to participate in the new math/science initiative.
