McMurry Raises Funds for the
Children's Miracle Network
Hundreds filled the stands for one of the
most anticipated matchups of the year on Monday night. But unlike
most basketball games, the most important part of the evening was
halftime. Baskets were passed throughout the crowd to raise money
for the Meek's Children's Hospital and the Children's Miracle
Network. In addition, the McMurry and Hardin-Simmons women's
basketball teams raised money beforehand and made a check
presentation. Together, the teams raised over $1,400, making the
children blessed by the Children's Miracle Network the true
winners.

Seats were scarce Monday night at the 10th
Annual Kiwanis Club of Abilene's Basketball Shoot-Out between
McMurry and cross-town rivals Hardin-Simmons. Several students
showed their support with body-painting and wigs. Faculty, staff
and alumni dressed in maroon and white and waved their rally rags.

McMurry Beat.
The men's game was beginning to look all to
familiar, but McMurry was able to refrain from experiencing a deja
vu moment as it held on to defeat Hardin-Simmons 67-53. McMurry
outscored Hardin-Simmons 23-12 in the final 10:44 and Alvin
Stevens' 21 points and eight rebounds helped the team win its
seventh game in the last eight contests. Read
