Research Interests

Antipredator Behavior (tonic immobility, tail autotomy, defensive burying) — This research examines how different animal species use specific behaviors to avoid predators.

Effects of Captivity and Environment on Behavior — This research examines the effects of captivity and new environments on different animal species, such as in zoos or research facilities.

Primate Development and Social Behavior — This research examines the environmental and social factors that influence the early development of monkeys and apes.

Psychopharmacology — This research examines the influences of various drugs on the behavior of animals and man. The most recent work was on the effects of Prozac and Paxil on tonic immobility in chickens.

Suicide Intervention in Adolescents — This research deals with developing and testing a Mental Health CPR program to influence suicide in adolescents.

Tip-of-the-Tongue Phenomenon — This research involves examination of the metacognitive processes involved with memory.
