COURSE DESCRIPTION: The study of management/administration principles applicable to various legal forms of organizations. Attention is given to the  decision-making processes, planning, organizing, leading and controlling, and to  the development of contemporary organizational philosophies .
TEXTBOOK: Contemporary Management, 4th edition.  Jones, Gareth R., and Jennifer M. George Irwin/McGraw-Hill Publishers, 2006
PREREQUISITES: NONE
COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1.  to provide knowledge and understanding of the management discipline2.  to develop managerial skills through application  
3.  to develop critical thinking and analysis skills
4.  to integrate multimedia in the classroom through the use of PowerPoint, videos and the Internet


CLASS ATTENDANCE:  Expected, but flexible.  Any student missing  more than three (3) class hours per semester may  be automatically withdrawn from the class.

MAKE-UP WORK POLICY: It is possible to make up late assignments,given a valid reason for missing a deadline.(The case analyses will not be accepted late). Assignments that are turned in late will have points subtracted.  Arrangements with the instructor should be made for make-up work.

GRADING POLICY:  Beginning with this academic year, the University will add plus/minus to the individual letter grades.  The grading policy for this course consistent with the University policy is as follows:

** INTERNET ASSIGNMENT #2: Search the Internet for a company's  mission statement.  Using the sheet for  effectively written mission statements, compare  the mission statement of the company to the components of mission statements.  Write a 2-page report on the comparison.
