Reflection on Informative Speech

I felt as though I did fairly well on my speech.  I wrote it and then went over and over again until I knew it enough to do most of it without relying on my note cards.  I tried to pick a topic that I was very interested in and that I knew a lot about.  I settled on Forensics and I am glad that I did because I felt as though I were teaching everyone about it and I felt myself getting excited about explaining what Forensics is and the different things related to the topic.  I did not realize I leaned on the podium that much but I guess when I get nervous I have a tendency to do that without realizing it.  I tried to remember most of the things that I did not do last time and correct them in this speech.  Overall, I felt that I did a good job and this was probably one of the best experiences speaking that I have ever had.

After listening to other people’s speeches, I feel like we have a group of good speakers and that, as an audience is respectful of the person giving their speech.  I think that the majority of the class did well on being a knowledgeable about the topic that they gave their speech on.  As part of the audience, I enjoyed most of the topics that people choose to talk about.  I watched the way that other people gave their speeches (mannerisms, gestures, etc…) and listened to the different styles of writing that everyone used and I compared them to mine.  I found that some of us had the same ideas but I liked the way they carried their ideas out better and learned from them so I could improve mine next time.  I also realized that some of the mistakes I made others did too and that helped me to better equip myself to speak in front of them.  For the most part, I think that as a class we did very well on the informative speeches we gave.
