- On this trip we will learn more about Lake Ivie, the quality of its
water, where it is treated, and
what the lake is like. A key thing to remember about Lake Ivie water is
this. It is brackish water which requires advanced treatment methods to
make it fit to drink. (Hutchins and Schaefer, 2003).

- We will drive south on route 83, stop at the Southside Water Treatment
Plant, continue south on 83 to Lake Ivie which is located near Paint
Rock. This is a new man-made lake created by building a dam across the
Colorado/Concho Rivers.
